All lodging options include food, fishing, music workshops and are within walking distance of one another. Sample Friday agenda: Up early for some top-water action on Goose lake, feast on a large brunch at the shack, head up to the barn for music workshop, more fishing, supper at the shack: Fannie’s Friday night fried chicken and biscuits, informal jam session at the barn, and then, best get some sleep ’cause Saturday is a big day. From Bill Monroe to Bonnaroo, He’s Been There January 6, 2010; Written by Chet Flippo Editor’s Note: Bluegrass legend Del McCoury recently celebrated his 50th anniversary of playing music. Originally from North Carolina, he joined Bill Monroe‘s Bluegrass Boys as lead singer and guitarist in 1963 (although he was originally hired to play banjo). He left the following year to join the Golden State Boys in California. Subsequently he went back East and worked in logging and construction for a number of years while continuing to play music on the side. His sons Ronnie and Rob began playing with him and he formed the Del McCoury Band. In recent years, the band have become extremely popular at non-bluegrass festivals...
